HG101 will be at the Long Island Retro Gaming Expo on Saturday, August 10th in Garden City, NY. We’ll be hosting a panel focusing on (and ranking!) some of the games by developer Treasure, based on our latest book. Come also see some fantastic guest speakers, including Retronauts (we’ll be on their panel as well!), Frank Cifaldi of the Video Game History Foundation, Anatoly Shashkin of DOS Nostalgia, Leonard Herman of the video game history book Phoenix, and the guys from My Life in Gaming, who put together that awesome M2 documentary from a little while back.
This convention has become a recent favorite of mine, especially because of the super cool venue. It’s hosted in the Cradle of Aviation Museum, so it has arcade and console game setups next to airplanes and other neato stuff. The museum sections are always nicely decorated, and there’s always a setup of obscure consoles and computers – last year there was a PC-FX, an X68000, and a Jaguar CD! It has a much different vibe than the usual expo halls these events are typically hosted in. Here are some pictures from back in 2017:
