Name: Leatherhead

Designer: Ryan Brown

First Appearance: Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #3

Game Appearances:
TMNT III: Manhattan Project
TMNT IV: Turtles in Time
TMNT: Hyperstone Heist
TMNT 2: Battle Nexus
TMNT 3: Mutant Nightmare (DS)

Profile: In the original Mirage comics, Leatherhead is subjected to MUTAGEN by the Utroms and transforms into his mutated self. He is shown to be highly intelligent and even befriends the turtles.

In the 1987 cartoon, he is a bumbling Cajun who hails from Florida and became mutated due to wasted MUTAGEN from Shredder and Krang. His character is played much more broadly compared to his more mellow Mirage counterpart.

Name: Rat King

Designer: Jim Lawson

First Appearance: Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #4

Game Appearances:
TMNT IV: Turtles in Time
TMNT: Tournament Fighters (SNES)
TMNT 3: Mutant Nightmare (DS)

Profile: Rat King is one of the more poetic villains of the TMNT cast, with his ragged appearances and philosophical views. He is shown to have a telepathic connection with rats, which affects Splinter greatly in the Mirage comic books

In the cartoon, Rat King is still highly intelligent, however in this version is shown to control rats via a flute melody rather than with telepathic capabilities. In every version, he remains very dangerous and incredibly strong.

Name: Baxter Stockman

Designer: Kevin Eastman, Peter Laird

First Appearance: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #2

Game Appearances:
TMNT: The Arcade Game
TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan
TMNT II: Back from the Sewers
TMNT IV: Turtles in Time
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003)
TMNT 2: Battle Nexus
TMNT 3: Mutant Nightmare (DS)
TMNT: Arcade Attack

Profile: Baxter Stockman is a formidable scientist gone mad with his own brilliance and uses his skills to invent the murderous Mousers. His quest for power only grows more insane as the Mirage comics continue.

In the 1987 cartoon, his appearance and behavior was changed from African American to a white Doc Brown style character who is mutated into a fly. He is shown as a more sympathetic character in the cartoon.

Name: Slash

Designer: Ryan Brown

First Appearance: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures #23

Game Appearances:
TMNT III: Manhattan Project (NES)
TMNT IV: Turtles in Time (SNES)

Profile: In the 1987 cartoon, Slash is mutated by Rocksteady and Bebop in order to train him to do their tasks, but his obsession with his plastic palm tree from the glass bowl he inhabited as a regular turtle leads him into a rage when it gets lost, and he is put at odds with the Ninja Turtles by some corrupt business men.

His original incarnation from the Archie comic books is as an anti-hero which a large portion of the overall story focuses on. Slash's role has strong overtones of nature preservation.

Name: Karai

Designer: Kevin Eastman, Peter Laird

First Appearance: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #54

Game Appearances:
TMNT: Tournament Fighters (SNES)
TMNT: Tournament Fighters (Genesis)
TMNT 2: Battle Nexus

TMNT: Smash-Up
TMNT: Arcade Attack

Profile: In the original comic, Karai comes from the Japanese section of the Foot, who comes to New York after the demise of the Shredder in order to unite the clan and take over as its leader. Her relationship with the TMNT is either as an reluctant partnership or a revered adversary.

Karai did not appear in the 1987 cartoon or Archie, but would become central in the 2003 reboot and 2007 movie. In 2k3, her persona is similar, though she has now become the adoptive daughter of Shredder.

Name: Casey Jones

Designer: Kevin Eastman, Peter Laird

First Appearance: Raphael #1

Game Appearances:
TMNT: Manhattan Missions
TMNT: Tournament Fighters (NES)
TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan
TMNT II: Back from the Sewers
TMNT IV: Turtles in Time
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003)
TMNT 2: Battle Nexus
TMNT: Arcade Attack

Profile: Casey Jones is a vigilante who roams New York at night, wearing a hockey mask and carrying a golf bag with various sports equipment serving as his arsenal.

The original Casey Jones is a rather visceral self appointed city protector who is discovered by Raphael during a fight. While initially being at odds, they eventually befriend one another and come to each other's aid. He also serves as April O'Neal's love interest. The 2003 cartoon uses this as its inspiration, though Casey's love for bloodshed is completely removed to suit a younger audience.

The 1987 Casey Jones is a Dirty Harry inspired madman, seemingly living out his vigilante persona at all times. Unlike the comic book and subsequent cartoons and movies, Casey does not serve any central role in the 1987 cartoon.

Appearing in only 1 episode in the 1987 cartoon, Triceratons were given a prominent role in the 2k3 series at it progressed.

Name: Hothead

Designer: Ryan Brown

First Appearance: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures #20

Game Appearances:
