The intro for this PC Engine version
is completely different from the rest. Different enemies from the game just
come out, dance, and generally just screw around. Here's a glimpse of the
wacky things that go on.
|
 |
Except for the status bar, this
looks just about exactly the same as the Super Famicom, Playstation and
arcade versions. Isn't that sweet? |
 |
Yes, I do say that it's nice looking!
OK, I'm not going to bother taking any more screenshots for this PC
Engine version feature, so check out the Super Famicom area. |

Well, it does have the
exclusive Special mode, where you automatically resurrect and play
for a high score. This section here more or less mimics level 2 from
the original Gradius, with all of those little globe thingies you
can destroy. |
 |
Same section, but don't wake up
the sleeping, humongous pumpkin up above. |
 |
I don't recall those flying
Octopi in the actual game, (who bear a resemblance to Mr. Parodius/Takosuke, the protagonist
of the game) but those bunny girls entrapped in bubbles obviously make
an appearance. |
 |
You get to fight a miniature
version of that huge Moai battleship from the real game. Actually, you
get to fight a bunch of them. |
 |
The level ends with the penguin
pirate boss from the first level. Nothing extraordinary. After this,
your score is totalled and you get tossed back to the title screen. |
