The game kicks off with Goemon and Ebisumaru chatting about something whilst in jail. Somehow they escape and up starts the action...
The guards here don't put up much of a fight. Hell, you can even walk right in and out of the cells to talk to the inmates. Not very well guarded, this jail is.
Ah, escape! The beautiful air of the Edo period in Japan (well, they didn't have ozone problems back them so I can assume the air is fresh.) In any case, here Goemon is attacking with coins (called Kobans) that his second level weapon.
Goemon can wander into houses and get advice (or useless chatter) from the townsfolk. Here the person is asking Goemon to wipe his feet on the rug before entering (actually, I just made that up...I have no clue what he's saying.)
The first boss is this cool sumo robot...c'mon, how can you NOT love a game with stuff like this? It's so wacky and bizarre! The juxtaposition of mechanical robots in old Japan is comical (I just used an English vocab word! ARGH!)
After each level Goemon will spread his wealth with the townsfolk, being the kind soul he is. Go for it, Goemon!
The second level has volcanos in the background that spits out rocks. If you have those walking shoes, be careful you don't plunge yourself off the bridges to your death.
Here's the hot bath house. Wow, something I understand! The left door says "Men" and the left says "Women"! Aren't my Japanese skills amazing?
This is what happens when you enter the onna (woman) door. 8-bit titillation at its best, of course (well, for now...there's more later...tee hee)
Where else can you fight killer monkeys by the shoreline? See, I told you this game was cool.
Inside this palace lies a little mini-game where you can explore mazes in first person mode. It costs a bit o' money though, but it's worth it for the goodies.
Well, here's a picture of the maze. If you wander around enough, you can find a map that really helps you out. You can find passes here (vital to pass the level) and other neat goodies.
